Ribbs Skik

The bull Ribbs Skik (Saul Hudson x Startrek x Metode) can be called a true newcomer to the scene. As well as his unusual bloodline, this bull also descends from a maternal line that has not been used before for AI purposes. Robustness and protein, inherited from both his maternal and paternal pedigrees, are central to his qualities.

His sire Saul Hudson is expected to transmit all-round conformation traits with daughters of an average stature with very good feet and legs. The production figures show good, positive signs for milk yield and components. Through his dam, Saul Hudson is a half-brother of Slash.

Some cow families are regular suppliers of bulls for the AI station, but Skik is the first bull from the Hilda line to take his place on the AI stage. Hilda cows stand out in the herd for a number of reasons. They exhibit good conformation that includes plenty of width, and show extremely good production with high component percentages. They particularly excel in terms of protein, and durability is also anchored in their performance. Skik's dam and grand dam are both still active herd members, and his great grand dam Hilda 6953 (VG 85) and great great grand dam Hilda 197 (VG 85) realised six and eight lactations respectively. To complete the picture, the Hildas are fine examples of late maturity, as illustrated perfectly by Skik's dam Hilda 6997 (EX 90). After a heifer milk list with a lactation value of 114, she proceeded to a lactation value of 124 in her second list and on her third calf noted a lactation value of 129.
