Ja-Bob Horizon P-Red

Horizon P-Red (Peppermint x WhatsApp x Pembroke) is the first red-and-white Lineback bull to be imported from the US by K.I SAMEN for our customers. The bull was bred by Mark Yeazel of Ja-Bob Holsteins. He hails from the fertile Helen cow family, which has currently yielded over 350 EX female maternal descendants in ten different countries. Horizon P-Red is from the same line as Ja-Bob Jordan-Red, with his 5th dam being Jordan’s full sister. The cows in Horizon P-Red’s maternal line are strong with plenty of width and produce the highest component percentages in the herd. His dam unfortunately died early in her life so she only completed two milk records, but she had huge potential. This family is also known for good conformation with his dam and grand dam both scoring VG 85, followed by various excellent cows in succession in the pedigree.

His sire Grashoek Peppermint (s. Ian) is one of our own bulls, bred on our breeding station and dairy farm. Peppermint was also a fabulous bull. He descends from the well-known Ruth family, a name that has proven itself extremely well in our own herd. His dam is an unassuming Malando daughter, who improved at each lactation. The lineback markings of Horizon P-Red were inherited from his sire’s paternal line. 

Horizon P-Red is heterozygote polled, strongly built, well balanced and has good legs with good locomotion. This stunning, deep red bull has lovely markings, aAa code 516423 and beta casein A2A2. He was already a standout calf thanks to his vitality and good growth, so there was absolutely no doubt he would be used by Triple Hil Sires.
