The Holwerda prefix needs no explanation on the Dutch breeding circuit. Holwerda Finbar 2 is a good example, a well developed, Dutch Friesian bull from an amazing, proven cow family. His paternal and maternal lines can both trace their origin to the Hooghiemster breeding farm.
His maternal line excels in high quality udders, fertility and durability. From his granddam, the four futher generations in his maternal line reached an average age of 14 years or older. A wonderful example of this ability is Finbar 2’s dam Witsnoet 464, who combines good production with correct conformation. She is a well developed, powerful Dutch Friesian cow, with excellent udder and good legs.
Sire Holwerda Finbogason (Gerard 8 x Ids x Holwerda Casartelli) was a very attractive bull, with good dairy type from the Emma line, known for high milk production. Grand dam H. Emma 118 merited VG 87 and was granted a special ‘star cow’ award for her consistent high scores. She has also produced several good bulls.
Finbogason daughters are typical of the Dutch Friesian breed with extra width, super quality udders and correct legs.
Finbar 2 (Finbogason x Kralou H Thimo) is a stunning FH bull, well developed and with dairy type and lots of width. He also shows balance. He also has great legs with good locomotion, and has aAa code 516. In view of his pedigree we expect him to make a good contribution to improving udders. His versatile pedigree offers many options for FH breeding. He is an excellent bull who can be used globally and is exemplary of the strong traits of his breed.
