K.I. SAMEN regularly tests bulls from more obscure cow families. To maintain sufficient variation, we promote diversity among the bull sires when selecting the ones to use, but also ensure there is a wide enough choice of maternal pedigrees. In the case of the red Holstein bull You Tube Devan (Allard x Accolade x Kylian), what we have is a completely new cow family and a (bull) sire who has hardly been used. Another noticeable aspect of Devan's ancestry is the large input of bulls from the black-and-white population.
As a red factor carrier, Devan’s sire Allard is one of these bulls. Allard is acclaimed as the ultimate component transmitter. His fat percentage inheritance is already high, but his extremely high scores for protein merit him a place among the top performers in the breed. His virtually faultless conformation transmission is proven by high scores for traits including legs and udders and an above average condition score.
As already mentioned here, Devan's maternal line has many black-and-white genes. Renowned black-and-white bulls such as Ramos (3rd generation), Jesther (4th generation) and Design (5th generation) form a solid foundation within this Fenny family. The latter bull is, for example, the sire of Fenny 34 (VG 85), good for lifetime production of more than 55,000 kg of milk with very good components. We find the first red-and-white-bull (Kylian) with Devan’s grand dam Fenny 47 (VG 85). And finally, we arrive at dam Fenny 1, a daughter of the KI-tested bull Accolade (Award x Gogo). This breeding bull originates from the same farm (Buis in Someren) as Devan
