If you are looking for moderate-sized, efficient cows with good width and very good udders and legs then look no further than Weggelhorster Bonito (Bernell x Santana x Survivor). This bull is just what you need! Bonito, with his aAa code 516, also has a slightly unusual bloodline and a pedigree that includes traits such as high lifetime production.
Bonito’s sire Bernell is rather a surprise. He has a more unfamiliar pedigree and originates from Scandinavia (not exactly the epicentre of breeding). Despite this, Bernell leads the rankings of breeding bulls. He passes on lots of milk (with a neutral protein content) and good conformation. His daughters are of average size with very good udders and legs. Bernell also scores high for health traits (including hoof health) and for durability.
Bonito’s maternal line also excels in long-lasting cows with high lifetime productions. Foundation cow Hannita (VG 89) is a good example of outstanding durability. This Rex daughter, who can be found in the sixth generation of Bonito's pedigree, achieved lifetime production of over 100,000 kg of milk. Via Hannita 10 (VG 87) we arrive at the most influential cow in this family to date: Hannita 34 (VG 89). This daughter by Caveman also managed to produce almost 100,000 kg of milk in her active life. In addition, she also produced several good daughters including Alpen daughter Hannita 73 (VG 86), Polled Plus daughter Hannita 69 (VG 86) and Blauer daughter Hannita 89 (VG 87 and the great grand dam of Bonito). All three cows produced average protein percentages of at least 3.50% and realised lifetime production of more than 50,000 kg. This line is continued by Bonito's grand dam Hannita 112 (VG 88) and dam Hannita 169 (VG 87). The latter is an impressive cow. Hannita 169 has already produced more than 75,000 kg of milk, has very attractive and balanced conformation and exceptional fertility. She calves again just after or within a year, and has therefore already gained four months after seven calves.
