Dijkstar Bernelli (Bernell x Solero x Nelson) is another bull who meets all the requirements at K.I. Samen. A pedigree that contains bulls with high, reliable inheritance scores and a cow family that has produced breeding bulls such as Stol Joc and Vitality. Other notable traits offered by Bernelli are high protein percentages, very good late maturity and great durability.
All these traits mirror the strong points of Bernelli's sire Bernell. This calving ease bull bred in Denmark has an alternative bloodline (Bube x Salomon). He also offers fine production transmission (including a plus for protein percentages) and good conformation (including correct legs with slightly more curved rear legs side view) And last but not least, Bernell has super health traits.
Good late maturity and durability are defining traits of Bernelli’s maternal line, the Hasta family. Many generations of bulls produced by this line (Solero, Nelson, Maik, Malaga, Gibor and Ramos consecutively), all have higher than average scores for late maturity and durability. These traits are clearly reflected in the Hastas. The youngest three generations are all still alive. The oldest of these cows is Maik daughter Hasta 1 (VG 86). This great grand dam of Bernelli started with a lactation value of 108 as a heifer and has matured to score a lactation value of 125 in her last milk record until now, her fifth. To date, she totals lifetime production of more than 63,000 kg of milk with 4.50% fat and 3.60% protein. Hasta 1 is the dam of bull dam Hasta 2 (s. Paragon) and a daughter by Nelson who is Hasta Nel, the grand dam of Bernelli. Hasta Nel has already produced 35,000 kg of milk (with 3.64% protein) and is the dam of Solero daughter Hasta 4. The qualities of Bernelli’s youthful dam all indicate she will reach a high age with ease.
